God's Dream Team

I'm loving our current series, GOD'S DREAM TEAM... about what God has called the Church to be and do! It's been a very timely reminder to us that Jesus' heart beats wildly for His Bride... and our passion should be white hot for Him. We've got two weeks left... and we don't want you to miss out! So, if you haven't joined us, come on out... Mosaic Church in College Park, Sundays at 5:30pm...

See you there! ;-)

Not About Me!

Still not feeling well, and not up to thinking about what to write... so I thought I'd re-publish one of my earliest posts that might have missed alot of you guys. Hopefully, it will stir up some dialogue (it did before... haha). Here goes:

THE CHURCH EXISTS FOR NON-CHRISTIANS! There... I've said it. It's out! Hang me for heresy! Or... is it? Although it is true that the Church is the body of Christ, made up of those who have accepted His free gift of salvation, the church's mission is to be about making disciples! The Church doesn't exist for the "already convinced"; it exists for those who are far from God.

Now, when I say that the Church "exists for" non-Christians, what I mean is that our primary target is them... we exist to - first and foremost - do ministry in their direction. Isn't that what Jesus said His mission was? "Healthy people do not need a doctor - sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent" (Lk. 5:31-32). "There is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven't strayed away" (Lk. 15:7). "For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost" (Lk. 19:10).

Our Master models the way for us... we are to GO AFTER those who are far from Him, and to make them disciples who follow hard after Him. The Church exists for non-Christians... not for us to cater to ourselves.

MAD AT THE WORLD!!

I went to the bank today to get some quarters for the parking meter (yes, I have to "pay" to be at this one particular Starbucks... sheesh), and while I was standing in line, I heard a loud, male voice behind me say, "Hey, mutha f$&!*$!!" (sorry... I know I just messed some of y'all up!)

Thinking this dude was talking to me, but not knowing why... I turned around calmly, saying to myself, "Ok, D-Plum... the dude has lost his mind... LET IT GO!!!" But when I turned to face the man, what I saw was both shocking and sad: he was an older gentleman, and looked totally confused. He seemed to be MAD AT EVERYBODY... and yet, mad at NOBODY IN PARTICULAR. It was clear he wasn't playing with a full deck... he just kept walking around, cussin', lookin' all angry... at no one in particular!! Just talking to himself...

And I couldn't help but think: That's just how the unchurched views us! Mad at everybody, but nobody in particular... just MAD! (see how BOB FRANQUIZ worded it in this post) Why are we sometimes so angry? And why do we always have to be "right?"

And somebody please tell me... why does it always seem like THE CHURCH IS TALKING TO ITSELF?!?!

Reflections...

* We finished up the series ALL IN on yesterday... spoke on "What An ALL IN Church Looks Like", from Acts 2:42-47... probably my favorite passage in all of Scripture!

* Maybe one of the biggest principles of Scripture that we miss in today's church is that God is a miraculous God (Acts 2:43)! Whether it's restoring sight or restoring a broken marriage... healing the terminally ill or healing a racist heart, God still works in incredible, unimaginable ways! (and don't send me any crazy comments on not being "Pentecostal"... neither am I!!!) He didn't begin to show His miraculous power in the New Testament... it's a thread that runs throughout all of Scripture... and it's a thread that should still be evident in the lives of His people. If we really take Him at His word, our lives (and our churches) will be unxplainable!

* Sometimes we focus so much on the "latest" technological innovation in worship, or the "best" outreach strategy, or how we can we can really "wow" people with our creative environments (and ALL of these are both good and necessary), that - if we're not careful - we can forget how very badly we need the touch of God on our ministry! It is always THE LORD who adds growth to our churches (Acts 2:47). However, if you don't use the creativity, innovation, and strategies that He makes available to you, your services will suck and your church won't grow much. :-)

* I'm realizing more and more that creating environments for people to do life together is essential for ministry. The early church spent a whole lotta time together! (Acts 2:44, 46)

* One key principle of the early church was that they devoted themselves (Acts 2:42) to some basic things early on: the apostles' teaching (learning to live out the life of Jesus), fellowship (community... doing life together, including sharing meals and celebrating communion), and prayer (spending time talking AND LISTENING to God). The part we usually miss out on is that they "devoted THEMSELVES"... they didn't have to be pulled, prodded, or poked - they made a very conscious and intentional decision to passionately pursue spiritual growth! Why do we often see the opposite? Rick McKinley gives a very good reason in his book This Beautiful Mess: "One of the biggest challenges to following Jesus... is not a lack of direction, but a lack of desire. Most of us don't really want to do it." That about sums it up! Usually, the main reason why we don't pursue growth... is because we don't want to put forth the effort. Tight... but true. ;-)

Still Get Chills...

Almost 7 1/2 years ago, Keda and I went to a Church Planters' Bootcamp with a guy named Aaron Pankey and his wife, Malita. Together, we were starting Infinity Church... where I would serve as Worship Leader and Director of Small Groups.

The boot camp was a life changing event for me: It was there that I realized that planting strong churches is non-negotiable, if we're really going to reach unchurched people for Christ... and God began to birth in me a desire to see a movement of church planting begin in the MD/DC area... and to see countless lives transformed by the power of the Good News of Jesus Christ!

The leaders of the boot camp gave each of us a rock, with Matthew 16:18 written on it. You know the verse; it's where Jesus said, "...upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it." Honestly, I got chills when they handed that rock to me... they definitely made their point. But the significance of the moment wouldn't stand out for many years...

This past May, while driving to our launch service, Pastor Aaron sent me a text message that simply said, "Matthew 16:18." And I got those chills again.

And, when the going gets tough... and I want to throw in the towel (as well as throw the rock through my window!)... I often hold that Matthew 16:18 rock in my hand... as a reminder that it's not my job to build the church... JESUS WILL BUILD HIS CHURCH!!

And hell won't prevail.

He never said it wouldn't be tough... He just said hell will not prevail.

He never said we wouldn't run into obstacles... He just said hell will not prevail.

He never said we wouldn't "take our licks"... He just said...

You guessed it: HELL WILL NOT PREVAIL!! No matter what Satan says or tries to do... He will never conquer Christ's church... Jesus WILL build His church...

... and hell WILL NOT prevail!

AND I STILL GET CHILLS WHEN I THINK ABOUT THAT!!!!

Thanks, Larry!

I had a phone meeting this afternoon with Larry Brey (sounds like "high"), the Assimilation Pastor of Elevation Church. He was really helpful in thinking in terms of "processes"... the man knows systems! It was great, hearing his story of how his role has transitioned... from when the church started out with 16 people, to where it is today (just under 2,000 on two campuses). But there was one thing that Larry said to me that has been ringing in my head all afternoon, evening, and night (which is why I'm writing this post at 12:20 a.m.):

"In starting a church, you have one chance to develop the culture."

That's major... because it makes the way you begin the ministry count for so much! It means that you have to intentionally and painstakingly keep the vision before the people... because (as Bill Hybels so often says) vision leaks!

It means that you have to create systems that foster the culture you're trying to create. The systems at Ed Young's church may not work at my church... the systems from Journey Church in NYC might not work here at Mosaic in College Park, MD. Our individual church culture is unique... and the systems we create have to support that unique culture.

It's my job as Lead Pastor to make sure the people around me understand the culture we're trying to create. That responsibility cannot be abdicated to anyone else... And I have to constantly ask myself the question, "D-Plum... how are you doing with that??"

Because I've only got one chance to get it right.

peppermint-filled pinatas!

Okay... GREAT BOOK!!! My friend Eric Bryant hit it out the park with this! Personally, it was right on time for me... and, practically, he nailed it: you cannot read this book and come away without understanding the importance of "loving your neighbor"... a must-read for all Christ-followers!

(For those who aren't familiar with Eric, he's one of the pastors... his official title is "Navigator"... at Mosaic Church in L.A.)

The book is an easy read... it's humorous, engaging, and - most of all - convicting. If you read it with a heart to learn, you will definitely come away assessing your own commitment to seeing people the way Jesus did (does), and have a greater desire to - not simply tolerate those who are different from us - but love them and serve them in the midst of relationship.

And if the book title doesn't grip you, check out some of these chapter titles:

  • "The Art of Woo"
  • "White Men Can Jump (Just Not As High)"
  • "Lots of Sex in the City"

Again... great book... a must-read... be prepared to be both CHALLENGED and CHANGED!!

Sunday Thoughts...

Another good service tonight... we wrapped up the Forgiveness series with a message entitled "The Road to Restoration", from Luke 15 (Prodigal Son)... seemed to resonate with people. It definitely resonates with me, whenever I read that passage. God's forgiveness is something that I still can't wrap my brain around!

5 newcomers tonight! One young lady brought her third visitor! The encouraging thing about that is we've only been meeting for six weeks... she came to our launch service and just continues to invite her friends! We also had someone come out from the impact cards that we passed out at the Metro station two months ago! I had been praying all week that we'd begin to see some more fruit from our outreach efforts... look at God!!

Really touching for me tonight was the fact that a young Latino guy that I've been ministering to came out for the first time! He got there pretty late, but he came out... that's a great step. God's got something huge in store for this guy... I'm sure of it!

Momentum is building... ever so slowly... but it's building!

We Run Our Mouths Too Much!

Steven had a great post today... and it convicted me BIG TIME!!!

Although I don't spend a lot of time criticizing Joel Osteen, I know there have been times when I've been guilty of being over critical of him, as well as of other preachers with whom I might not totally agree theologically or philosophically. But the truth of the matter, as Steven pointed out, is that we're on the same team! We wear the same jerseys, have the same coach... when I score, you score (if you're part of the Body of Christ). That's just the way it is. And we forget that we have more in common than we give ourselves credit for... see this.

Yet, too often, we run our mouths about ministries and preachers that may not cross their theological "T's" or dot their methodological "I's" the same way we do! Not only do we talk about them, but we tend to run their names into the ground. And, believe me, unbelievers see it... and hear it... and they take note: "Glad I'm not one of them."

Thanks, Steven, for reminding us to use our mouths for praise and not to promote ourselves at the expense of others.

Water Give-Away

We had a great outreach on Saturday afternoon! Fourteen of us went out to the main strip in College Park (Route 1), right down the street from the Univ. of MD... and we passed out 200 free ice cold bottles of water, and 200+ invite cards... in about a half hour! Hey, don't miss that... that's 200 touches!!!!! That's a lotta seeds, baby!

We had a great time... we had a diverse team... and we met a need. AWESOME time!!

Being that it was our first attempt at servant evangelism, I knew we'd have some takeaways... here are a few:

1. Make sure the "FREE" on your signage is large enough for people to see from a good distance.

2. People are pleasantly surprised at the "giveaway", because most people out on the street waving bottles of water are asking for donations! ("Wow... you're a church, and you want to give us something freely??")

3. We need to at least triple the amount of water and invite cards next time.

4. Most people will take the water... it's hot outside!!!!

5. You have to be careful, because the traffic light doesn't stay red forever! Yes, I learned this the hard way... no, I did NOT get hit. :-)

Hey, this is a great way to get people serving! It's a low-risk (for those who aren't used to evangelism), high-visibility way to create a little "buzz" for your church. One young lady said she was "really nervous" as we were getting ready to start... but by the end of our time, she was AMPED!! Btw, she found out about Mosaic from a doorhanger we put out for our launch service... and she's been there ever since! In fact, she brought a friend with her to church a couple of weeks ago... and brought out another friend to do the outreach with us!

Okay... that's it for now... I'll be back later to give an update from our service!!

Thursday, May 31

Finally!

Ok... I am so lame...
But I'm still getting adjusted to this weekly thing (some of you know what I'm talking about!)

I promised to download some tidbits from my South Haven experience from last week... and I aim to deliver... so here goes:

1. Bill started off the day on Thursday by walking through, devotionally, Romans 12. He'd been "saturating his brain" with this passage every day for almost a year... and you can tell! Great way to start off a leadership bonanza!

2. Probably the best takeaway I received from Bill's devotional was from v.11 - "Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." It is MY job to keep my spiritual zeal! I cannot abdicate responsibility for that to someone else. Bill gave us 3 questions to ask ourselves: What activities bump up my zeal? What people lend to my zeal? What (or who) zaps my zeal? These questions are important for us to ask ourselves, because "everyone should have the privilege of following a BUMPED UP leader!" (Bill)

3. The topic of self-awareness came up several times... in Bill's view, this is the most important trait a leader needs... it's important for him/her to understand who they are (and who they are not), because no one will follow a leader who makes the same mistakes all the time! Bill said that he thinks journaling is the best way to not repeat mistakes, because it chronicles the activity of God in your life. Henry Cloud affirmed this and likened mistake-ridden leaders to children who need chaperones... because they don't know how to watch themselves. Wow.

4. On preaching: find the best prep time that works for you... carve it into your schedule AND VIGOROUSLY PROTECT IT! Listen to great communicators regularly... and different types of communicators. Our preaching needs to be continuously developed... where is my "Improving My Skills" time bracketed out in my regular week?

5. On finish lines: transitioning out of a ministry is tricky... but be sure to hit the finish line at full strength! It is very much ingrained in the culture of Willow that people are to try hard to finish well. Bill had some very wise things to say about leaving a ministry - (a) consider the time frame of when you leave; (b) develop the story... both sides need to agree on what/why/when, etc.; (3) think through who gets told, and when (the most affected should be told the soonest... work out from concentric circles from there).

6. Evaluating Staff: Bill spent a good amount of time on this topic... he said leaders don't take this serious enough. At Willow, the staff gets "graded" (A, B, C... two C's and you've gotta go!) He talked about employment/ministry as a value exchange of labor/hire - "We've hired you to do ministry, and in return we should get a fair amount of labor." He evaluates (practically speaking) leaders by who they attract, who they develop, and who they get rid of! "You're fired!!" Just kidding. :-)

7. Bill said there's a general law in church planting: who you start the venture with is probably not the same people you build the church on. Some people become disillusioned and no longer buy into the vision: they have the option of moving forward or staying irrelevant... but the one option not on the table is sin!

8. Both Bill and Henry agreed that it is of the utmost importance to have a regular group that provides feedback for us (of our life), and that we're probably in need of a trained individual to help us process the things of our soul (hmmm... Furtick's been saying the same thing...) Even if we're not in pain now, we need to strengthen our muscle for the future time that it will happen. "Most of us underestimate the wiles of the Evil One." (Bill)

There is so much more that I can share (feel free to ask for clarification of any of these points), but I'd be writing most of the night. Bill Hybels is (I've said it before... I'll say it again) by far.. without a doubt... bar none... the greatest leader I've ever been around. And, whether you know it or not, I've been around some really gifted leaders throughout my life (I come from pretty good ministry stock, baby!!) But Bill is by far the most gifted... hands down. And that's not putting anybody down... it's just saying that his leadership gift is out the freakin' roof!!!

An incredible experience... one that I'll never forget.

The Importance of Creating Fans

No matter what business you're in... if you deal with people - and you want those people to let others know about your quality service and product(s)... then they need to become your fans. Even in ministry, it's important to create an identity where people love what you have to offer... not only the preaching of the Word, but also your service... or the way you treat them.

I was reminded of this very thing today, as I was dealing with a customer service issue with a local printing company. Their service has been horrendous today! Now, they're short-staffed and incredibly busy... but that doesn't give them a reason to be rude. Rudeness is unacceptable and should never be tolerated... anywhere. I've worked with them before, but their service today has convinced me that this will be the last time I do so. And, not only will they not get my business, they won't get my referrals either.

On the same hand, it's a sad thing when a church gets bad publicity because of the way people have been handled in their ministry. We want people to spread the word and help create a buzz about our ministry: "Hey, here's a place where the people are loving and accepting and living like Jesus!" As Ken Blanchard says, we need to create raving fans... people who love Jesus, but also love and our excited about being a part of our ministry... and want to tell others about it!

I know what some of you are saying:

I don't care if people are excited about our ministry... I want them to be excited about Jesus.
Well, if they're excited about Jesus... and your ministry is healthy... they'll be excited about the ministry, too.

I'm not concerned about numbers.
You SHOULD be! The biblical writers seem to talk alot about it... and Jesus always had a crowd.

I'm not concerned about whether or not people are talking about our church... God will draw those who need to be there.
Well, if you feel that way... and you might not want to believe this... but people ARE talking about your church - you just might not like what they're saying.

People matter to God... and they should matter enough to us to serve them well. Creating raving fans is something that no church should minimize or overlook. God uses them to help move our ministries to the next level.

Can't Even Find the Words...

Yesterday, I had the awesome privilege/blessing to be able to worship with Elevation Church... that was definitely one of the most memorable church experiences I've had in a long time... maybe ever! Pastor Steven Furtick is a crazy man (in a good way, of course), with a straight-up, no holds barred preaching style. And I tell you what... whoever says that that kind of preaching doesn't grow churches today is foolish and knows not what they say, because Elevation is one of the fastest-growing churches in the country: almost 2,000 on two campuses... in a little over one year! Steven taught on giving, from John 6... and it was freakin' off the chain (sidebar: another reason I like him is because, like me, he says "freakin'"). One of the things that stands out when you listen to Steven is his faith in a humongous God, and his unashamedness of his authority in Christ. He's not a big guy (we're about the same height... a couple of inches shorter and we'd suffer from Short Man Syndrome), but he preaches big... and it's evident that he walks in the authority that He has in Christ. And that's refreshing, because you just don't see that in many "contemporary" preachers today.

Last night, they had an evening of praise and worship for their volunteers (of which I think there are over 300... that's just sick), and that joint was almost too much to take... totally Christ-centered, uninhibited, LOUD, passionate worship... definitely a fitting way for me to end my time at Elevation.

Mad shouts out to Chunks, who serves as their Executive Pastor! Chunks took care of me and my new friend, Pastor David Anderson of Crosspointe Church, and showed us all the ins and outs of the church... and got us backstage to talk to Steven for a bit. Chunks, you are the man! Thanks for everything (and BIG CONGRATS on the ordination, dude!) Also, mad props go out to Lori, Steven's assistant, for setting everything up with Chunks... Lori, you continue to amaze me with your helpfulness!

All in all, it was a great experience... something to look forward to as Mosaic takes College Park and Prince George's County by storm! My dreams have been TOO SMALL, and I no longer want to offend God with puny requests... this weekend has been a reminder that He can do SO MUCH MORE than we ask of Him!

Cross-Colors

I have a meeting on Wednesday that I'm really looking forward to: it's with my good friend, Vic Simpson, and his friend, Pepe Roja. Vic is having us at his church on Sunday morning to do a round table discussion on multicultural ministry and the issue of racism. It's going to be awesome, my friends! For those of you who know me, you know this is something I'm extremely passionate about. It bothers me that there are not more pastors and church planters for whom this a passion... but I'm glad I'll be with two guys this weekend who are definitely passionate about it! (Also, see my friend Amy's blog on this).

"Christ brought us together through his death on the Cross. The Cross got us to embrace, and that was the end of the hostility" (Ephesians 2:16, The Message).

Also, I was just recently contacted about participating in a panel next month on basically the same issues! Wow... God is up to something, I'm tellin' ya! My prayer is that He uses Mosaic to start a revolution in College Park... one that is passionate about reaching all kinds of people, passionate about starting alot of churches, and passionate about this awesome King we have the privilege to serve!!!!!

"I saw a huge crowd, too huge to count. Everyone was there - all nations and tribes, all races and languages. And they were standing, dressed in white robes and waving palm branches, standing before the Throne and the Lamb and heartily singing: Salvation to our God on his Throne! Salvation to the Lamb!" (Revelation 7:9-10, The Message)

"Good" Friday

There was a time when, for several years, I would take off work on Good Friday and attend a "7 Last Words" service at noon. Seven preachers would preach from 5-10 minutes on these last sayings of Christ on the cross:

1. "Father, forgive them... for they do not know what they do."
2. "This day, you will be with me in paradise."
3. "Woman, behold your son. Son, behold your mother."
4. "My God, my God... why have You forsaken me?"
5. "I thirst."
6. "It is finished."
7. "Father, into Your hand I commit My Spirit."

Though I've preached my share of 7 Last Words messages... it's been a little while since my last one. And, in a sense, I miss it. It is a great tradition - when done well - in the Black church. Transitioning out of the "traditional church environment" over the last few years has limited some of those opportunities for me... but I look forward to Mosaic creating our own special worshipful and meaningful environments.

People often ask, "Why do we call this Friday 'good'? Jesus was brutalized!"

But that's exactly why it's GOOD Friday. The Bible says:

"He was pierced for our rebellion... crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed... The Lord laid on Him the sins of us all" (Isaiah 53:5-6).

"For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ" (2 Corinthians 5:21).

We celebrate this day as Good Friday, because it was on the cross that Jesus paid for our sins... all of them... IN FULL! No longer do we have to sacrifice, and "hope" that God accepts, meager animals for our sins. No longer do we need a human priest to go to God on our behalf. No longer do we have to fear death, hell, or the grave. No longer do we have to fear the wrath of God! Jesus "was brutalized" for us, so that we could have peace with God... no longer having to fear His judgment.

On Friday, Jesus hung on the cross for us... paid for our sins, and settled God's wrath against us.

That's why Good Friday is good.

All that happened on Friday... but Sunday was a'comin!!!!! :-)

That's Quotable: Sarah Cunningham

"Perhaps the greatest reason twentysomethings don't want to be labled is that we don't want to be known for who we are now. We want to be known for who we are striving to be. For who we are becoming."

Mosaic Connection BLAST!!

Aw, man... we had a blast tonight! 5 unchurched people showed up for our Mosaic Connection! Now, that may not sound like alot, but - if they get connected - multiply that times the number of people they will influence... and you've got a whole load of people! And they totally fit the demographic we're trying to reach: late teens/early 20's (we're shooting for 18-40)... multiracial... unchurched.

We did Dave & Buster's and Friday's... loved it! And the questions and comments that were flowing were just off the chain! Things like:

"So, how do you know your religion is the right one?"

"Some Christians judge me because I have tattoos!"

"I've always been afraid of going to church, because I know that... if I start going... I can't keep doing some of the stuff I'm doing now."

"One thing that scares me about some Christians is that they don't seem to have anything else to talk about besides God!"

Aren't those awesome questions and observations? They talked... and they listened... intently. They listened to the Gospel, they asked questions... they didn't make any professions of faith... but they'll be out for our next service! They're seeking... and we've got what they're looking for! ;-)

So, pray for Nina, Gavin, Eric, Jackie, and Natasha. We'll be hooking up again soon... walking with them on this journey! Pray that we're able to deepen the connections made, and that they'll be influenced towards becoming radical Christ-followers!!

Spurred On

I just came out of a meeting with my Worship Arts guy, Brian, and I'm feeling AMPED!!!! It's a wonderful thing to have really creative people with you in a church plant... and I'm blessed to have people like Brian and others who hold my feet to the vision!

See, coming out of churches that were more inward (believer-focused), sometimes it's easy for me to fall back into a "default" pattern... and start listening to people who are used to those types of environments... CAN'T DO IT!!!! Because, the truth is... inward-focused people won't understand the vision of Mosaic!!!!! You can't be inward-focused and function as a missionary at the same time...

So, I'm determined to live as a missionary... no matter how that makes me look in the eyes of the religious establishment... and, at Mosaic, that means making the Gospel plain to the culture we're in... in the most effective way possible!

Now, we're going to preach Jesus...

We're not going to cut corners...

But we're going to be creative and relevant... sometimes entertaining... always biblical.

And we'll make no apologies for it... Jesus will be exalted, unbelievers will be reached, believers will be strengthened in their walks... and all will be right at Mosaic!

I needed that impromptu meeting with Brian today... I'm spurred on to continue cranking out this vision to be the church that God had called us to be! College Park... here we come!

Lean on You?

Met today with the pastoral staff of Hillcrest Baptist Church, and had an awesome time! Hillcrest is our sponsor church, so we try to stay in the loop with one another as much as possible. For those of you who don't know, a sponsor church is one who supports a new church plant, with finances, people, and various other means of support... and acts as a "covering of legitimacy" (so to speak) while the fledgling church is in its infancy. Hillcrest isn't my home church, but they were willing to make an investment in me and in the ministry. That's huge.

Other supporting churches for Mosaic have been The New Macedonia Baptist Church in DC and Emmanuel Church in Huntingtown, MD. Both ministries have supported us either financially or with temporary workers. Many people/churches don't understand this, but every new church plant needs strong churches to come alongside of it... not just in prayer (as important as that is), but in tangible ways, as well. There are so many needs that arise... some expected... some unexpected... and the two main (tangible) needs usually happen to center around resources: 1) money and 2) people....

I'm extremely thankful for these three churches that have been awesome in their support of us!

"Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receivng, except you only; for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid again and again when I was in need." (Philippians 4:15-16)

"We all need... somebody... to lean on!" ;-)

Like Minds...

Met up with a guy named Jeff Warner today who planted and pastors a church that shares similar vision to Mosaic... and they meet on the campus of UMD! He said he came by our Preview Service this past Sunday, and really liked what he saw! I'm looking forward to seeing how God will deepen this friendship and what might be in store for the future...

Many possibilities there to reach College Park for Christ!
