Inspiration...

Had a really hard afternoon yesterday... REALLY hard. In fact, this has been one incredibly hard, spiritual-warfare-saturated week. Enough to make you wanna throw in the towel... for real. I'm not sure those outside of the pastorate understand the intense pressure a church planter feels: the pressure to build and shepherd a church, with usually only a handful of really committed people; the pressure to achieve balance between ministry and family, knowing that as quickly as he achieves it, he usually loses it; the pressure to keep up his own spiritual vitality, which sometimes suffers because he spends so much time trying to deal all the pressure...

The high days are really extraordinarily high...
But the low days... man!

I think church planters are sometimes among the loneliest people in the world. Not throwing a pity party... just stating the facts. Sometimes, all you can do is go before the Lord, like the Psalmist does in this verse...

And be thankful... and take comfort in the fact that... no matter WHAT...
- when friends leave you by yourself...
- when there's more to do than you feel you have the wisdom to pull off...
- when family don't understand you...
- when it seems like you can't even BUY help...
He'll never leave nor forsake you!

He will ALWAYS be there!
