Give Thanks to the Lord!

"Giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors Me" (Psalm 50:23a).

My sons, like me, learned to love music at a very early age. The very first song that Darren, Jr. ever learned to sing when he was not quite 2 years old, was this:

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
His love endures... forever!
Give thanks to the Lord, give thanks to the Lord
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!"

(Okay... yes, I typed all that out, as if everyone knows the tune... haha!)

But how very appropriate for a first song! Thanksgiving honors God... and we find it all throughout Scripture. He's honored by our requests (if not, He never would have told us to "ask... seek... knock"). But I really think what honors Him even more is when the first thing out of our mouths... even before asking Him for anything... is a "thank You," for all He's done for us... and for all He is to us. We love it when our children our thankful for the things we do for them; how much more so is our Heavenly Father delighted when we take the time to tell him "Thank You."

He's been good to you already today in so many ways... what have you taken the time to thank Him for?
