Put the Wrench Down!

I'm probably the world's worst counselor...

... which means, if you're having some serious trouble, you probably don't want to come talk to me. :-)

But one thing I've learned is that there are times when people just need to talk. They don't need to be "fixed" (well, they might need to be, but not right then), they just need you to listen.

But that's hard, isn't it? Sometimes, we feel like we just need to say something. We have the answers (or so we think), so we say to ourselves, "Oh, here's what they should do... can't wait to tell them. HA! They'll be in good working order after they hear this!" And you tell them, and they're thinking to themselves, "I really didn't need that right now... in fact, I didn't need anything except for you to listen to me... and be a friend."

Sometimes people are just in need of a friend... put the wrench and the rest of your tools down... and listen.
