Speaking at Campus Crusade-UMD tonight!

Looking forward to being with my CRU peeps tonight for their large group gathering! They've been going through the Sermon On the Mount, so I'll be closing that out for them.

I absolutely LOVE impacting the lives of college students! There's nothing like seeing the lightbulb come on, and watching them develop into mature Christ-followers. I was 21 and a student at UMD when I became serious about following Jesus. I fellow student challenged me about the way I was living, and I was so impressed with his life that I began spending more and more time with him... and the next semester found myself enrolled in Bible college!

Students are "ripe" because their entire lives are ahead of them... they want to be inspired to live great lives, dream great dreams, and give themselves to something that's BIGGER THAN THEM... what better venture to point them to than the Kingdom of God???

Crankin' This Thursday at CRU!

I'm looking forward, once again, to speaking to a large group of college students at University of MD for Campus Crusade... better known on campus as CRU! I really enjoy these opportunities, because - although Mosaic DC isn't trying to become a "college church" - one of our goals is to reach college students and lead them to become missionaries wherever God takes them after they leave school. Not necessarily full-time vocational ministry... although some may indeed choose to do so...

... but even in their everyday lives...
... on their everyday jobs...
... with their everyday families...

... we want to help them see themselves as missionaries , penetrating darkness wherever they go!

Will you do me a favor? Will you pray that the the students lives will be powerfully transformed? That God will send revival to Univ. of MD?

He wants it!

It can happen!!

"Pray... that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. That is why I am here in chains. Pray that I will proclaim this message clearly as I should." (Colossians 4:3-4)

Univ. of MD First Look Fair

Every year, the University of MD-College Park (and probably most other colleges) has a First Look Fair outside on their huge mall area for the students to get information on all the campus organizations and community services. I went last year and was AMAZED at how many students mob the tables! This year, we were able to get a table, as well (not as a campus organization, but so that students will know of churches in the area) ... and our college students (who LOVE their church) took turns manning the table and mingling with interested students.

It's awesome to see Christ-followers give of their time to further the cause of His Kingdom... we're never more like Jesus than we we're serving. Sometimes it's a major sacrifice, but "YAY, GOD!" for giving us a heart to serve! :-)

Making An Impact!

Had a chance to speak to about 150 students this afternoon at HOWARD UNIVERSITY, for their IMPACT Fall Retreat. The Impact Movement is a ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ, geared toward reaching and developing young African-American students. As a young man, my life was tremendoulsy changed at the Impact Conference in 1991 in Atlanta, GA... so, the movement is close to my heart.

There were, I think, 4 colleges represented there today(including Univ. of MD), and the students were really excited. My very good friend JUMAINE JONES was one of the speakers, as well. Prayerfully, lives were changed and the students challenged to go deeper in their walk and relationship with God.
