Never forget...

The first chapter of Rick Warren's book, The Purpose-Driven Life, is well-known by many of us: It's Not About You! I even blogged about this somewhat in May or June... but it's so easy to forget! Whether it's ministry, marriage, parenting, school, temptation... just life, in general... we must always remember that it's not about us. The apostle Paul, through the Holy Spirit, says it well in Romans 11:36: "For from Him and through Him and to Him are ALL THINGS. To Him be the glory forever! Amen" (emphasis mine). The only reason we exist is because of God; the only reason He got us into the school we're in is so that He can shine through our relationships, our lifestyle, and our grades; the only reason we do ministry is so that HE can receive the glory; the only reason He's given us kids to raise is so that they might be raised with a worldview that knows that Jesus is the Supreme Ruler of this universe, and our allegiance is to Him. In short, whatever we do - whether we eat or drink - we do it so that He can receive maximum glory.

It really isn't about us at all. :-)
